Chudy and Grase have investigated alternative materials to rethink the lamp as an object. Instead of designing a shade for the light source they shaped the light itself. The lamp collection ’Strike’ is made with optical fibers capable of directing light, resulting in a series of minimalistic light sculptures that offer a new and different way of experiencing light. The lamp is reduced down to its core.
The light source is a strong LED facing downwards. Using optical fibers the light is spread through the frame and the frame itself becomes a light object. In the optical fibers the intensity of the light reduces with increasing distance, creating a fading-out effect where the light slowly dissolves.
Strike is designed for public spaces, in a row above bars or as lighting in hallways. It is a concentrated light or has the effect of rain of light when multiple lights are grouped together.

KONSTANTIN GRCIC “We must completely rethink the lamp as an object. Anyone simply inserting new energy saving bulbs into old fittings is missing a unique opportunity. We now need a new typology of light.”
